China’s heavy-duty market is slowing down significantly after a robust year in 2010. Heavy-duty truck sales in the first six months totaled 540,000 units, down 7 percent from the same period last year. Semi-tractor trailers, the fastest growing segment last year, saw sales drop a steep 32 percent during the period to 137,000 units, in sharp contrast to the triple digit growth in the same previous period.
It is likely, as was predicted by analysts at last year’s seminar, that the market may see a negative growth this year. It will be meaningful for executives and analysts to get together again this year to discuss recent developments and find out how to confront the new challenges.
