GUANGZHOU – GAC-Honda, the Japanese automaker’s local venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. (GAC), rolled out its first independent model, the Li Nian S1 (Everus S1), in Guangzhou on March 28, and will officially launch the car at the Shanghai auto show in April, auto.ifeng.com reports.
Designed to target Chinese young generation or first-time car buyers, the S1 is based on the previous Honda City platform, and draws inspiration from the Everus concept debuted earlier last year. It will be available for preorder at the JV’s 470 dealerships across the country on April 1 for ¥70,000-¥100,000 ($10,700-$15,300).
The S1, with a wheelbase of 2450 mm, features two powertrain options: a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder (73 kW peak output, 127 Nm of torque) pared with a 5-speed manual transmission, and a l.5-liter 4-cylinder (88 kW peak output, 145 Nm of torque) coupled with a 5-speed automatic transmission.
The two versions have a fuel consumption of 6.1 and 6.9 liters respectively, and will be sold through Honda’s sales and service network in China, according to Xinhua news.
