Airbags still the major cause for vehicle recalls in September

BEIJING – Due to airbag defects, cars on the list of recalls announced by automakers in September were 159,923 units, accounting for 53.9 percent of the total recalled vehicles in that month, according to information released by China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

Of the 159,923 recalled vehicles, most were Japanese brand cars including the Subaru and Lexus.

The total number of cars recalled in September declined by a certain extent compared with the same period of last year.
