HEFEI, Anhui – Anhui Ankai Automobile Co., Ltd. (Ankai) held a ceremony on July 22 at the company’s headquarters here for the delivery of 1,100 buses to an Algerian customer, CIMA Motors, according to a company news release.
Ankai signed the bus order valued at $36 million with CIMA Motors in June, the biggest sales contract in the bus sector in the first half of the year.
“This achievement is not a coincidence, but a result of our great efforts to explore the local market,” said a person in charge of overseas sales of Ankai.
Ankai sold 20 buses to CIMA Motors for $465,000 in 2013. The latest order from CIMA came because of recognition from the local customers.
Ankai now accounts for a large scale of the bus market share in countries and regions in the Middle East. For example, Saudi Arabia has about 5,000 Ankai buses operating in the country. Ankai also exports buses to other countries in the region including United Arab Emirates and Iran.
Ankai has sold buses to 57 countries and regions in the world, including the U.S., Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, etc.
