Automakers recall nearly 1.9 million vehicles in Q1 2016

BEIJING – Automakers announced 43 recall campaigns involving 1.8652 million vehicles in the first quarter of 2016, according to information released by the State Administration of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) at a press conference on April 28.

A third of the recall campaigns (14) involving just over 1 million vehicles were announced as result of AQSIQ investigation, accounting for about 54 percent of the total vehicles recalled during the period.

There were 25 recalls involving imported vehicles totaling 263,809 units, including 212,479 vehicles recalled by Volkswagen and Porsche due to a brake pedal defect.

In total, 28 automakers announced vehicle recalls in Q1 2016.
