BAIC delivers 500 electric E150s in Beijing

BEIJING – BAIC New Energy Vehicle Co. recently delivered 500 units of E150 electric cars in Beijing, mostly for government fleet usage, but with a few targeting individual consumers, reported d1ev.com.

Beijing’s vehicle administration office has dealt with the licenses of these electric cars. BAIC will provide 24-hour nanny services for the EV owners and collect data on these vehicles for further product improvement.

The E150 EV is BAIC’s self-developed electric car based on its E150 platform. The drive range on a single charge is 160 kilometer and the top speed is 120 km/h.

According to the company’s plan, it aims to produce 150,000 new energy vehicles annually by 2015.

Beijing will have 5,000 new energy vehicles in the public service sector by year’s end. The city plans to have 450 electric taxis in service in a few suburban districts. These electric taxi cars are from Beiqi-Foton and Chang’an Auto. It is not yet known whether the E150 EV will be used in taxi fleets.

The city plans to build a three-level electric vehicle charging and battery swapping network that consists of six large-scale concentrated charging stations, 250 charging and battery swapping stations and 210 small-sized delivery stations by the end of 2015.
