BEIJING – BYD’s small SUV the Yuan is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2016, with an estimated starting price of ¥70,000 ($10,808), according to a report on auto.163.com.
The Yuan SUV has a dimension of 4,320×1,765×1,650 mm (LxWxH) and a wheelbase of 2,520 mm. It is powered by a 1.5L petrol engine with a maximum output of 80 kW. Another version of the vehicle has a 1.5T engine which can generate a maximum power of 113 kW. The Yuan is equipped with a 6DCT transmission.
The SUV also has a hybrid version powered by a 1.5L petrol engine and two electric motors. The hybrid Yuan has a range of 70 kilometers in EV mode. Fuel consumption of the hybrid SUV, which has a starting price of around ¥170,000 after government subsidies, is less than 2L/100 km.
