BYD aims at 200,000 vehicles in 2008

SHENZHEN, Guangdong ¨C BYD Automobile Co., Ltd. announced that it has set a sales target of 200,000 vehicles for 2008, with three new models to be launched within the first six months of this year.


 


The F3 will be the automaker¡¯s major product on the market in 2008, with a sales target of 150,000 units. Its new model the mid-level sedan F6, to be launched soon, targets at 25,000 units this year, covering 12.5 percent of its total sales plan.


 


Its mini car the F1 is targeting 20,000 units in sales while its hard-top convertible sports car is targeting sales of 5,000 units. The hard-top will be put on the market this year.


 


According to reports in Beijing Morning Post, the F6 sedan automatic transmission variant will be priced at around ¥125,800 ($17,232).


 


BYD achieved its sales target of 100,000 units last year; double that of 2006.
