BYD e6 taxi starts service in the Netherlands

ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands – Two BYD e6 pure electric vehicles have been put into service as taxis in Rotterdam, the Netherlands by Rotterdam Taxi Centre (RTC), one of the biggest taxi operators in the country, according to a BYD news release on December 11.

RTC CEO Mr. Sjaak de Winter said that RTC plans to extend its fleet of pure electric taxis to 25 within the next 18 months.

Rotterdam will install the 500th charging point next week supplied with “green” electricity from renewable sources.

The BYD e6 is a five-passenger, crossover vehicle powered by the BYD Fe battery (lithium-iron phosphate). The battery has a more than 4,000 rated cycle life. It takes only two hours to fully charge the e6 using AC fast charging solution developed by BYD.

This pure electric vehicle’s range with single charge is up to 300 kilometers.

BYD managing director Isbrand Ho indicated that the e6 has already clocked more than 100 million kilometers of passenger-carrying duty in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
