BEIJING- Beijing-Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. launched the Sonata Lingxiang (a new generation of the Sonata NF) last December in Beijing. Six variants of the model with two displacements are priced at ¥155,800-¥228,800 ($22,580-$33,159).
The Sonata Lingxiang features the θ-II VVT engine, 5-speed H-Matic AT/MT, CVVT (Continue Variable Valve Timing) and VIS (Variable Intake-air System). Its 2.0L engine has a top power of 121 kW.
The Sonata Lingxiang is also equipped with six airbags, ABS, EBD and EDP, DVD, electronic navigation system, etc.
Beijing-Hyundai offers a five-year/100,000 km warranty for the powertrain of the Sonata Lingxiang.
By the end of 2008, Beijing-Hyundai would have 420 dealerships, which will grow to over 470 in 2009, according to media reports.
Beijing-Hyundai has high expectations for the Sonata Lingxiang to lift the company and brand image. “If the Lingxiang fails (to help Beijing-Hyundai tap into middle-to-high-end segment), then we should only make low-end cars in outsider’s eyes,” said Li Honglu, vice general manger of Beijing-Hyundai on December 22.
Beijing-Hyundai sold 206,936 vehicles in the first 10 months of 2008, up 35.46 percent year-on-year, according to CBU-Autostats.
