BEIJING – The number of people applying for a regular car license plate in Beijing has exceeded 2 million in June but the number of people applying for a new energy vehicle license plate was down by 30 percent from May, according to data released by the Beijing Car Quota Control Office on the city’s vehicle license plate lottery pool on June 9.
A total of 2,206,067 people are vying for just over 9,500 license plates allocated for individuals in June, up 190,000 people from the second phase and after a rise of 172,000 people from the first. This further decreases the chances of getting a license plate, which in May stood at one in 124 people on average.
Both individual and business applications for NEV license plates dropped in June, by 657 and 202 respectively to 1,763 and 653. The success rate for getting a NEV license plate for individuals now stands at 94 percent.
