CNHTC sets up new commercial vehicle plant

ZHANGQIU, Shandong ¨C China National Heavy-Duty Truck Group Corp (CNHTC)¡¯s Jinan Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. completed its new commercial vehicle plant in CNHTC¡¯s Zhangqiu Industrial Park on December 19, 2007, according to a report on zhka.com.


 


With a built-up area of 400,000 square meters, the new plant is equipped with world class assembly lines for whole vehicles, vehicle frames and cabins, as well as a vehicle inspection line, shower shop and circular vehicle testing track. Annual production capacity will be 40,000 units.


 


In the inauguration ceremony, Joachim Kau, TÜV Asia-Pacific vice president, issued an ISO/TS16949 certificate to Zou Zhonghou, general manager of the company. This indicates that the Jinan-based commercial vehicle maker has become the first enterprise to pass this international quality inspection among Chinese truck manufacturers, according to company sources.


 


CNHTC is one of the largest automotive enterprises in the country. Besides Jinan Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd., it has bus, special-purpose vehicle and engine subsidiaries. The vehicle models it has developed have exceeded 1,200.


 


As announced by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers in August 2007, CNHTC ranked top among Chinese automobile manufacturers in 2006 in terms of production of medium and heavy-duty trucks.


 


Last year, it realized an output and sales of 30,799 and 31,771 units of heavy-duty vehicles, up 132.09 and 135.06 percent respectively from 2006, ranking No.1 again in the heavy-duty truck sector in China, according to CBU-Autostats.
