CHONGQING – The new sales and distribution network of Chang’an-Ford-Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. (CFMA) will begin operation on January 1, 2008, announced YU Hongjiang, vice president of FAW Mazda Motor Sales Co., Ltd. (FMMS). At that time, CFMA will take over sales and distribution of the Mazda3 from FMMS.
When the new distribution network is established, FMMS will be in charge of the sales of mid- to high-end models while CFMA mainly distributes economy vehicles. And FMMS will introduce imported Mazda3 hatchbacks as a replacement.
Mazda Motor (China) Co., Ltd. revealed early in an interview that CFMA aims to establish 100 dealerships this year and add another 50 in 2008.
According to an agreement signed last year by CFMA, FMMS and Mazda Motor (China) Co., Ltd., the Mazda3 models will be distributed exclusively by CFMA. FMMS will run the dealership network for a year, and then it will be taken back by CFMA in 2008. After that, CFMA will grant the distribution rights of Mazda3 to FMMS.
The 1.6L version of Mazda3 recently entered the market in late July. This new model will be distributed through both networks when the new network is completed.
A new generation of Mazda2 is now in production in CFMA’s Nanjing plant. CFMA will probably take over the sales of Mazda2 as well in late 2007 or early 2008.
