HARBIN, Heilongjiang – The Chang’an B501 sedan is confirmed to be manufactured in Chang’an’s Hafei plant in Northeast China’s Harbin city, according to a report in Beijing News.
Based on the B-platform, Chang’an’s B501 is an entry-level sedan for family use, which is designed exclusively for Chinese road conditions, said the company.
Featured as 4,180×1,650×1,465 mm (LxWxH), the model is equipped with Chang’an’s self-developed C-series engine, which can comply with State IV and V emission standards and the newly released Phase III fuel consumption limits.
Given the rapid growth of the SUV segment in China, Chang’an will launch a compact SUV in 2012 to get a piece of the piece.
Codenamed as the S101, the model was showcased at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show as a concept. It is said that the S101 is equipped with the same power system with Chang’an EADO, which has two engine options of 1.6L and 1.5T.
According to Chang’an vice president Zhu Huarong, the company will release 6-9 models of various ranges before 2015.
