SHANGHAI – Chen Xianzhang, former president of United Automotive Electronic Systems Co., Ltd., (UAES), was appointed president of Shanghai-Volkswagen, the company announced on August 28.
Chen replaces Zhang Hailiang, who was promoted to vice president of SAIC Motor in charge of trade and service earlier in August.
Chen was born in 1964 and graduated from Tongji University with degrees in Electrical Engineering and German. He joined Shanghai-Volkswagen in 1988 as assistant to the director of engine plant and became technical director for the UAES joint venture project in 1994 and director of technical center of UAES Shanghai Branch in 1996. He then held several senior-level positions including vice president of UAES from 2000, managing director of UAES and Zhonglian Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. from 2003 and vice chairman of DIAS Automotive Electronic Systems Co., Ltd. from 2006.
