CHANGSHU, Jiangsu – Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Co., Ltd. will invest ¥6.67 billion ($1.07 billion) in upgrading its existing production line and building the second assembly workshop, reported Internet Info Agency.
After completion of the plant expansion, the joint venture’s output capacity will be increased from 130,000 to 200,000 vehicles per year.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport, the second locally produced vehicle of Jaguar Land Rover, is planned to hit the market in the fourth quarter of this year. A Jaguar brand vehicle will also be produced in China next year.
In addition, a JV independent brand model has been put into production in the Changshu facility.
