BEIJING – Shanghai-GM launched its brand new small city SUV Chevrolet Trax at the Beijing Auto Show on April 19.
The Chevrolet Trax targets to Chinese young customers with a price of ¥119,900-¥159,900 ($19,983-$26,650). This 1.4T city SUV has got over 100,000 reservations on the Internet. “SUVs are the most popular models in the Chinese market in the last two years. With a year-on-year growth of 130 percent, small city SUVs are the fastest growing models in term of sales in the SUV segment, and that’s why we are introducing the Chevrolet Trax to the Chinese market,” said Wu Bing, marketing director of the Chevrolet brand at Shanghai-GM. “City SUVs, like the Trax, will be the first choice for Chinese young people in the future,” Wu added.
The new generation Cruz was also debuted at the same event. The new Cruz is equipped with a 1.4T turbocharged SIDI engine mated with a DCG dual clutch transmission for the first time in GM’s history, said Wu. The new Cruz will be officially launched in the second half of the year.
With the introduction of new models, Shanghai-GM expects to sell over 700,000 Chevrolet brand vehicles this year.
