China NEV output reaches 13,500 units in March

BEIJING – China produced 13,500 new energy vehicles in March, up around 3 folds from a year earlier, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on April 9.

Output of battery electric passenger vehicles was 6,986 units, up 4 folds from the previous year, while that of plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles was 3,288 units, up 4 folds as well.

Battery electric commercial vehicle production in March was 2,465 units, a 3 folds year-on-year increase, while output of plug-in hybrid commercial vehicles was 791 units, down 27 percent from a year earlier.

In the first three months of the year, NEV output came to over 25,000 units, an increase of 3 folds.

Production of those NEV models listed in the national purchase tax-exemption catalogues reached 10,970 units in March, accounting for 81 percent of total March output volume.
