China NEV output reaches 24,500 units in August

BEIJING – China produced 24,500 new energy vehicles in August, up 4 folds from a year earlier, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on September 9.

Output of battery electric passenger vehicles was 9,175 units, up about 3 folds from the previous year, while that of plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles was 6,778 units, up nearly 3 folds. Battery electric commercial vehicle production in August was 6,446 units, a 21-folds year-on-year increase, while output of plug-in hybrid commercial vehicles was 2,142 units, up 148 percent from a year earlier.

In the first eight months of the year, NEV output came to 123,500 units, an increase of around 3 folds.

Production of those NEV models listed in the national purchase tax-exemption catalogues reached 21,600 units in August, accounting for 88 percent of total August output volume.
