China sells 331,092 NEVs in 2015

BEIJING – China sold 331,092 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in 2015, up 3.4 folds year-on-year, according to data released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on January 12.

Sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) were 247,482 units in 2015, up 4.5 folds, while that of plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) reached 83,610 units, a 1.8-folds increase from the previous year.

Cumulative NEV sales reached 444,447 units in 2011-2015, 55,553 units less than China’s goal of selling 500,000 NEVs by 2015.

CAAM predicted that China NEV sales will exceed 700,000 units in 2016.
