China’s A0-class car sales up 1.04 percent in April

BEIJING – China’s locally produced A0-class car sales in April 2014 climbed by 1.04 percent on a yearly basis to 137,934 units, accounting for 14.4 percent of the total car sales, according to CBU-Autostats.

Combined sales of the top 10 A0-class car models reached 96,530 units and took up 69.9 percent of the total segment sales.

Cumulative sales of China’s locally produced A0-class cars in the first four months of this year reached 585,045 units, down 3.07 percent.

 

Chinese brands

Sales of Chinese brands’ A0-class cars dropped 21.15 percent year-on-year to 40,290 units, and their market share was down by 8.22 percentage points to 29.2 percent.

Chang’an led the segment among the Chinese brands by the sales of 10,720 units, up 18.45 percent.

Sales of Chinese brands in the segment in the first four months this year dropped 21.7 percent to 181,496 units.

Sales of Korean brands’ locally produced A0-class cars in China rose 8.29 percent year-on-year to 27,868 units, and their market share was up by 1.35 percentage points to 20.2 percent.

Beijing-Hyundai sales in the segment were 15,426 units, up 20.21 percent but Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia 12.442 units, down 3.57 percent.

Sales of these brands in the segment in the first four months came to 120,549 units, up 10.21 percent.

Sales of American brands’ locally produced A0-class cars reached 25,691 units with an increase of 7.29 percent, but their market share was up by 1.08 percentage points to 18.6 percent.

Shanghai-GM sales in the segment under the Chevrolet rose 7.08 percent to 20,769 units during the month.

In the first four months, American brand sales in the segment rose 8.88 percent to 110,022 units.

Sales of German brands’ locally produced A0-class cars dropped 2.56 percent to 16,485 units, and their market share was down by 0.44 percentage points to 11.9 percent.

Their cumulative sales through April in the segment were 63,930 units, down 9.09 percent.

Sales of Japanese brands’ locally produced A0-class cars rose 59.78 percent on a yearly basis to 24,826 units. TFTM led the segment among the Japanese joint ventures by the sales of 10,067 units.

In the first four months, their cumulative sales in the segment came to 98,561 units, up 30.04 percent.
