BEIJING – China’s locally produced B-class car sales in March 2014 increased 8.33 percent year-on-year to 176,416 units, accounting for 17.7 percent of the total car sales, according to CBU-Autostats.
Sales of the top 10 B-class car models in the month were 112,966 units, and took up 64.1 percent of the total segment sales.

Sales of Chinese brands’ B-class cars dropped 43.4 percent on a yearly basis to 4,099 units, and their market share was down by 2.1 percentage point to 2.32 percent.
Their cumulative sales in the segment in the first three months dropped 34.4 percent to 14,356 units.

Sales of German brands’ locally produced B-class cars rose 21.1 percent on a yearly basis to 66,544 units, and their market share was up by 3.9 percentage points to 37.7 percent.
Shanghai-Volkswagen sales in the segment were 22,942 units, down 1.1 percent but FAW-Volkswagen 32,408 units, up 21.21 percent.
Cumulative sales of German brand’s B-class cars in the first three months were 177,853 units, up 8.4 percent.

Sales of Japanese brands’ locally produced B-class cars rose 0.58 percent on a yearly basis to 47,308 units, but their market share was down by 2.1 percentage points to 26.8 percent.
GAC-Toyota led the segment among the Japanese JVs by the sales of 13,292 units, up 9.61 percent.
In the first three months, Japanese brand sales in the segment were 138,490 units, up 9.2 percent.
