China’s B-class car sales increase 7.9 percent in 2013

BEIJING – China’s locally produced B-class car sales in 2013 rose 7.9 percent year-on-year to 2,085,166 units, accounting for 18.1 percent of the total car sales, according to CBU-Autostats.

Sales of the top 10 B-class car models in the year were 1,307,486 units, and took up 62.7 percent of the total segment sales.

Sales of German brands’ locally produced B-class cars rose 9.9 percent on a yearly basis to 712,636 units in 2013, and their market share was up by 0.6 percentage points to 34.1 percent.

Shanghai-Volkswagen sales in the segment were 266,690 units, down 1.8 percent and FAW-Volkswagen 351,480 units, up 15.2 percent.

GAC-Honda led the segment among the Japanese brands by the sales of 172,960 units, up 18.7 percent.

Shanghai-GM sales in this segment for the year reached 293,760 units, up 21.3 percent.

Sales of Korean brands’ locally produced B-class cars rose 4.3 percent on a yearly basis to 175,581 units, and their market share was down by 0.3 percentage points to 8.4 percent.

Sales of Beijing-Hyundai in the segment were 119,123 units, up 5.1 percent, and those of Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia grew 2.5 percent to 56,458 units.
