China’s locally produced SUV sales up 27.9 percent in March

BEIJING – China’s locally produced SUV sales in March 2014 increased 27.9 percent on a yearly basis to 269,958 units, according to CBU-Autostats.

Combined sales of the top 10 models were 131,667 units, accounting for 48.7 percent of the total sales.

In the first three months, cumulative sales of locally produced SUVs reached 770,990 units, up 37.23 percent.

In the first three months, Chinese brand sales in the segment reached 290,918 units, up 26.9 percent.

Sales of Japanese brands’ locally produced SUVs in China increased by 27.7 percent year-on-year to 55,632 units, but their market share was 20.6 percent, down 0.02 percentage points.

Cumulative sales of these brands in the segment rose 32.2 percent to 157,166 units in the first three months.

In the first three months, American brand sales in the SUV segment rose 105.7 percent to 79,563 units.
