China’s passenger vehicle sales up 0.6 percent in August

BEIJING – China’s passenger vehicle sales in August rose 0.6 percent on a yearly basis to more than 1.44 million units (see Table 1), according to the latest data released by China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on September 9.

Passenger car sales reached 794,160 units, down 12.7 percent. SUV sales were 458,140 units, up 54.6 percent from 2014. Sales of MPVs decreased 7.3 percent year-on-year to 129,690 units, and microvan sales were 62,259 units, down 30.2 percent from the previous year.

Combined sales of top 10 passenger vehicle makers in August were 889,383 units, accounting for nearly 61.6 percent of the total passenger vehicle sales (see Table 2).
