BEIJING – China’s passenger vehicle sales rose 13.4 percent on a yearly basis to more than 1.33 million units, according to latest data released by China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on June 7.
A total of nearly 6.89 million passenger vehicles were sold in the first five months, up 17.6 percent compared to the same period of last year.
In May, passenger car sales reached 896,175 units, up 10.9 percent, and SUVs 215,915 units, up 44.4 percent.
Sales of MPVs in the month increased by 13.4 percent to 85,293 units, but that of microvans were 138,191 units, down 4.6 percent.
Combined sales of the top 10 passenger vehicle makers in the month were 839,795 units, accounting for 62.8 percent of the total sales.
CPCA predicts that passenger vehicle sales growth rate in June will remain more than 10 percent.
