DaimlerChrysler names new chief for Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd.

BEIJING – DaimlerChrysler said it has appointed Klaus Maier as president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd. (MBCL), effective January 1, 2007.
 
His duties will include the sales, marketing, network development, after-sales and service of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao.
 
Maier has been with DaimlerChrysler for over 16 years and will join MCBL from Stuttgart, Germany, where he was responsible for the worldwide development of sales organizations for the Mercedes-Benz, Smart and Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge brands, the company said.
 
Maier will replace Peter Honegg, who has become president and chief executive of DaimlerChrysler Malaysia.
