SHENZHEN – BYD and Daimler joint brand Denza is expected to open its first 4S store in Beijing within the year, CBU/CAR learned from the recent auto industry development forum in Tianjin.
According to Pang Qinghua, chairman and general manager of Pang Da Automobile Trade Co., Pang Da has become Denza’s first distributor. “I have seen the design pictures of our 4S store in Beijing. It is expected to be opened within the year.”
The location is yet under discussion, he added.
The Denza concept was debuted at the 12th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. The Denza concept is based on the Mercedes-Benz B-Class platform but larger in dimensions at 4,699×1,895×1,580 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,880 mm. As the battery pack is placed underneath the body, the car has spacious room for the driver and passengers, front and rear.
The production version of the Denza concept will be not much different, Lian Yubo, CEO of BYD-Daimler New Technology Co., Ltd., told CBU/CAR at the event, adding that the only difference may be the rear suicide door.
Lian noted that the Denza will have a smaller and lighter battery pack than the e6, yet with a more or less the same drive range of 300 km.
Denza is also likely to be sold in Europe, according to Dieter Zetsche, chairman of Daimler AG.
