BO’AO, Hainan – Dongfeng Xiaokang Co., Ltd. (DFSK) launched its first medium-sized SUV the Dongfeng Fengguang 580 here on June 21.
Six editions of the SUV model were launched with the cheapest 1.8L 5MT manual elite edition priced at ¥72,900 ($11,215) and the top variant 1.5T CVT automatic luxury edition at ¥99,990.
Equipped with a 1.8L naturally aspirated engine and a 1.5T turbocharged engine, the Fengguang 580 has a peak powers of 102 kW or 110 kW and fuel consumption of 7.6L/100 km and 7.4L/100 km respectively.
First debuted at April’s Beijing auto show, the 5 or 7 seater would rival the Haval H6, Chang’an CS75 and Zotye T600. It offers 7-year or 150,000-km warranty. It has also joined hands with Ping’an Insurance to add product liability insurance to the safety list of the model.
“It’s super valued in a short term if a consumer buys a car with a sound price and if warranty on quality and aftersales can be extended free, that’s super valued in a long term,” said Liu Changdong, president of DFSK. The brand has also innovated on marketing. The launching ceremony invited 100 “cewebrities” to conduct live broadcast of the launch, which drew 5 million netizens to watch.
DFSK plans to launch more SUV models in the future to improve on profit since its main business on micro trucks, lorries and MPVs gets meager profit. Since presale, orders have exceeded 10,000 units.
