SHANGHAI – FAW-Toyota 11th Corolla officially hit the market on June 19 with 12 variations priced at ¥107,800-¥159,800 ($17,248-$25,568).
The car has a dimension of 4,630×1,775×1,480 mm (LxWxH) with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
Mated with a 5-speed manual or S-CVT, the new generation Corolla adopts a 1.6L or 1.8L naturally aspirated engine. The 1.6L engine has a maximum power of 90 kW and a peak torque of 154 Nm. The 1.8L engine has a maximum power of 103 kW and a peak torque of 173 Nm.
The fuel consumption of the 1.6L MT and 1.8L MT versions is 5.9L and 6.1L per 100 kilometers, respectively.
Production of the 10th Corolla will be discontinued after the new generation hit the market. The Corolla EX, developed based on the 9th Corolla, will continue to be produced and sold on the market.
The main competitors for the 11th Corolla include the Volkswagen Sagitar, Kia K3, Nissan Sylphy and Honda Crider.
According to CBU-Autostats, cumulative sales of the 10th Corolla and Corolla EX reached 74,716 units in the first five month of this year, down nearly 30 percent on a yearly basis.
