CHENGDU, Sichuan – A new Coaster bus rolled off the assembly line on January 16, 2007, according to a news report on sina.com.cn.
Coaster is a medium-sized bus made by Sichuan-FAW-Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. based in Chengdu, Sichuan Province in southwest China. The new Coaster comes in two versions, powered by a 2.7L VVT-i gasoline engine and a 4.0L diesel engine, both of which meet Euro III emissions standards. The two models have a price range of ¥364,000-¥527,500.
Improvements include new overhead lighting and revised front bumpers. Both are equipped with an onboard diagnostic system (OBD) and revised suspension settings provide greater comfort for passengers.
FAW-Toyota’s dealerships began accepting orders for the new Coaster on January 15, 2007.
Sichuan-FAW-Toyota produced 4,129 and sold 4,112 Coasters during the first 11 months of 2006, up 38 and 33.25 percent over the same period in 2005, according to CBU-Autostats.
The company also produces the Toyota Prado SUV.
