FAW-Volkswagen to recall 54,024 Boras in China

BEIJING – FAW-Volkswagen, a joint venture between Chinese automaker FAW Group and German Volkswagen Group, will recall 54,024 Boras starting from October 1 due to defective power-assisted steering system, according to a statement published on the website of China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) on August 15.

The cars to be recalled are powered by 1.4T engines and made between May 2010 and March 2012.

Due to a problem during the part supplier’s manufacturing process, the oil return pipe of the power-assisted steering system may break in extreme cases, making it difficult to steer the vehicle, AQSIQ’s statement said.

The company will replace the defective parts for car owners free of charge.
