FAW-Volkswage’s 10 millionth vehicle rolls off assembly line

CHANGCHUN, Jilin – FAW-Volkswagen’s 10,000,000th vehicle, an Audi A6L, rolled off the assembly line at the joint venture’s plant in Changchun, Jilin Province in Northeast China on December 2, according to a report on auto.sina.com.cn.

In addition to Changchun, the joint venture also celebrated the milestone in Chengdu, Sichuan Province and Foshan, Guangdong Province, where the 9,999,998th and 9,999,999th vehicles were produced respectively.

Since the establishment on February 6, 1991, FAW-Volkswgen has produced Audi and Volkswagen brand vehicles at three manufacturing facilities in Changchun, Chengdu and Foshan. The JV company started the construction of a new plant in Qingdao, Shandong Province in East China in November and plans a new production facility in Tianjin.

According to the JV’s “2020 Strategy” launched in June 2013, Volkswagen and Audi brand vehicles made by the JV will take the largest share in mass produced and luxury vehicle markets in 2020.

Output capacity of the JV, which sold 1,498,863 vehicles in the first 10 months of the year, will reach 3 million units in 2020.
