BEIJING – Organized by find800.cn, the “Find the Best Driver” event was launched in Beijing on June 30. Aiming at finding the best drivers in safety, efficiency and economy aspects, the event was supported by heavy-duty truck and bus makers such as SAIC Motor Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd., Beiqi-Foton Motor Co., Ltd., Yutong Bus, Zhongtong Bus, China National Heavy-Duty Truck Group Corp. (CNHTC), and Shaanxi Heavy-Duty Truck Co., Ltd.
More than 30 media organizations including China Central Television and Xinhua News Agency attended the event.
“Drivers, the users of vehicles, are key elements in the history of human development,” said Li Jingwen, academician of the China Engineering Academy, at the launching ceremony.
“Find the Best Drivers” event is of great significance for automotive industry development and automobile society construction, said Dong Yang, secretary-general of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
“China currently owns 14.5 million trucks, 1.37 million taxis, 850,000 buses and 530,000 public transport buses. The country has more than 20 million professional drivers with 8 million more drivers driving post, sanitary, coalmine and harbor trailer vehicles,” said Yao Mingde, honorary chairman of China Road Transportation Association. “The 30 million professional drivers are the foundation of the transportation industry, and the great figures and inspiring deeds among them are worth learning and promotion,” said Yao.
The “Find the Best Driver” event is to promote civilized and safe driving concepts, and seek models of safety, high-efficiency and energy-saving, said Yao Wei, chief editor of find800.cn and secretary-general of the organizing committee of the event.
