Foton wins order for 1,272 new energy buses

BEIJING – Beiqi-oton Motor Co., Ltd. (Foton) announced on July 5 that it has recently won an order of 1,272 new energy buses from public transport service providers, bus companies and vehicle rental companies in Beijing, Shandong, Liaoning and other places.

Under the brand name AUV, except for about 100 units of hybrid buses, the buses are all pure electric ones. They are being delivered and would further be delivered by yearend.

Established in 1996, Foton is now the biggest domestic commercial vehicle enterprise.

On the NEV sector, it has a large-scaled NEV R&D center which studies into NEV, battery and charging facility. Two bases, one in north part of the country and the other in south were built several years ago to better tap into segment NEV markets. The company’ previous announcement shows its AUV bus is on the procurement list of Beijing public transportation system and accounts for half of all buses running on the road.  

Foton made sound performance in NEV sector in 2015, selling a total number of 8,289 NEVs and clean energy vehicles. Sales for its NEV products grew by 141.72 percent year on year.
