DAYTON, Ohio – Fuyao Group opened its new plant in Ohio in the U.S. on October 7, according to a group news release.
The new facility is reportedly the biggest automotive glass plant in the world and will supply 25 percent of North American new car market.
Fuyao Group’s auto glass production base in Ohio was founded in March 2014. It covers an area of 450,000 square meters, of which factory workshops occupy about 170,000 square meters. With a workforce of over 2,000 employees, the new plant is capable of producing four million automotive car sets and four million automotive replacement glass windshields each year.
“We are proud of our work in Ohio, in the heart of the U.S. auto corridor, and are highly committed to supporting the growth of the North American automotive market,” said Fuyao Group chairman Cao Dewang. “Fuyao China currently supplies around 70 percent of the Chinese auto glass market, and through close work with our OEM partners, we believe we will replicate this success in North America.”
Fuyao Group invested $600 million on its Dayton factory and has established manufacturing plants in Illinois and Detroit. Its main customers include GM, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Honda, Isuzu, Toyota, Mazda, Audi, Volkswagen and Citroën.
