XIAMEN, Fujian – Xiamen Golden Dragon Bus Co., Ltd. (Golden Dragon) recently shipped 638 school buses from the Xiamen Port to Saudi Arabia, according to a company news release on August 19.
The buses, valued at over $27 million, were scheduled to arrive at the Middle East nation in one weeks’ time. It is yet another huge order of Chinese-made school buses following Shenlong Bus, which delivered 446 school buses to the same country during the same month.
Bao Hongquan, overseas sales director of Xiamen Golden Dragon, said that the company’s overseas sales went up by over 40 percent in the first seven months of this year and export value this year will account for about 20 percent of its total revenues. It plans to increase this proportion to 40 percent within the next five years.
According to the news release, Golden Dragon exported 3,424 buses to Egypt in the first half of this year, making it the leading bus brand in that market. The company also delivered all-aluminum body electric buses to the Netherlands in July.
