JAC to launch fifth generation EV in 2014

HEFEI, Anhui – Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Corp. (JAC) plans to launch the all-new fifth generation of battery electric car in 2014, said Liu Hui, deputy director of the new energy institute of JAC’s automotive technology center.

He also disclosed that JAC will launch the revamped fourth generation BEV in the next half of this year.

JAC has been granted ¥200 million ($32 million) for its development project of the fifth generation of battery electric sedan from the Ministry of Finance (MOF). The company received the first allocation of ¥80 million from the provincial finance in February.

Hefei has more than 2,000 electric cars on road for demonstration and most of the EVs in use are made by JAC.
