TAIYUAN, Shanxi – The engine plant of Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd. (JMC) and Ford Motors started construction in Taiyuan on May 20, with Wang Xigao, chairman of JMC, and Ford China chairman and CEO, attended the ceremony.
With an added investment of ¥3,415 million ($548 million), JMC will manufacture Ford and JMC brands trucks for 100,000 units annually with sales revenue of over ¥15 billion.
With the capital investment and engineering team of JMC and the products and technology approval of Ford, the heavy-duty diesel trucks will be in world-class level, said the company.
Covering a planned area of about 186,667 square meters, the phase I of the program will build engine cylinder and head assembly line and relevant supplement facilities with a designed capacity of 10,000 units.
As scheduled, the phase-I program will be put into operation in the second half of 2015.
