Japanese brands’ B-class car sales for May up 2.3 percent in China

BEIJING— May sales of Japanese brands’ locally produced cars rose 2.3 percent on a yearly basis to 49,813 units, and their market share was down by 3.9 percentage points to 28.4 percent.

Toyota leg the segment among the Japanese brands by the sales of 19,609 units, up 4.5 percent. Honda took the second position with the sales at 13,957 units, down 6.3 percent.

In the first five months of this year, a total of 228,413 Japanese brands’ locally produced B-class cars were sold in China with a decline of 0.38 percent.

Toyota sales during the period were 86,312 units, up 10.3 percent and Honda 65,081 units, up 1.22 percent.
