HANGZHOU, Zhejiang – Liu Jinliang, former sales general manager of Geely Holding Group, was appointed the company’s vice president for marketing and sales of new energy vehicles, according to a company release on May 16.
Sun Xiaodong, vice president of brand, marketing and strategic planning for Geely, will hold a concurrent post as the company’s sales general manager.
Geely’s shareholding company Shanghai Huapu Guorun Auto and Zhejiang Kandi Automobile Co., Ltd. (Kandi) signed a joint venture agreement in March to set up Kandi Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd. The new JV will be focused on investment, R&D, manufacture, marketing and sales of electric vehicles. After Geely, Kandi appointed Liu as the JV’s vice president, responsible for sales and marketing, and Hu Xiaoming, chairman of Kandi, will be the new JV’s president.
Liu joined Geely in 1995. He has 17 years of experience in automotive sales and marketing, brand building, network managing and operations management. In 2005, Liu took the post as Geely’s vice president and sales general manager, responsible for the company’s sales, service system building, brand management and logistics.
According to CBU-Autostats, Geely sold 121,163 vehicles in the first quarter of the year, a rise of 15.74 percent compared with the same period of last year.
