MIIT bans manufacture and sale of 40,000 automotive products

BEIJING – China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) eliminated more than 40,000 products of 757 automakers from the Circular of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Their Products published on its website recently.

Manufacture and sale of these products should stop as of December 31, 2014, said MIIT.

These products consist of buses, trucks, sanitation vehicles, transport vehicles, school buses and chassis.

MIIT also eliminated some new energy vehicles of Dongfeng, Chery and Geely from the Circular released at the end of last year.

According to industry analysts, MIIT aims to eliminate those vehicle models and automotive products which have very few outputs for a long time or do not meet the requirements stipulated in the Circular through modifying the document.
