May sales of German B-class cars increase 24.3 percent in China

BEIJING— Sales of German brands’ locally produced B-class cars rose 24.3 percent on a yearly basis to 63,268 units in May, and their market share was up by 2.2 percentage points to 36 percent.

Shanghai-Volkswagen sales in the segment were 26,052 units, up 26.87 percent and FAW-Volkswagen 28,771 units, up 17.4 percent.

In the first five months, the combined sales of German brands in this segment came up to 281,980 units, up 15.2 percent, and their market was 34.6 percent, up 1.3 percentage points compared to the same period of last year.

Shanghai-Volkswagen sales were 120,940 units, up 14.43 percent, while those of FAW-Volkswagen rose 22.3 percent to 127,506 units.
