BEIJING – China sold 61,400 units of heavy-duty trucks (including trailers) in October, a minor decrease of 4.2 percent on a monthly basis but a huge jump of 40.7 percent compared with the 43,640 units sales in October 2012, reported cvworld.cn.
Top three manufacturers Dongfeng, FAW and China National Heavy-Duty Truck Co. (CNHTC) sold 14,600, 10,800 and 8,500 units respectively in October, up 70.6, 29.6 and 37.3 percent year-on-year. Foton and Shaanxi Auto sold 10,000 and 6,600 units, up 51.9 and 19 percent on a yearly basis. Jianghuai Automobile Co. (JAC) ranked sixth in sales by selling 3,200 units in October, up 46.9 percent year-on-year. SAIC-Iveco-Hongyan and CAMC Hualing also saw sales jump of 68.1 and 37.6 percent to 2,000 and 1,519 units. The heavy-duty market sold 628,600 units in the first 10 months, up 17.3 percent and close to the whole year sales of 636,000 units in 2012. The accelerating recovery of China’s heavy-duty truck market can be mainly attributed to the inventory replenishment, mild recovery of the economy, fixed investment increase and the stock up of State IV emission standard-compliant vehicles.
Dongfeng remained its dominance by selling 133,500 units through October, an increase of 18.5 percent. FAW posted sales of 106,400 units during the same period, up 19.4 percent year-on-year. Foton caught up with sales of 94,200 units, only 4,300 units less than the 98,500 units of CNHTC. Shaanxi Auto ranked fifth through October by selling 80,200 units, up 13.7 percent year-on-year. JAC witnessed a growth of 25.7 percent to 27,800 units in the first 10 months of the year, and SAIC-Iveco-Hongyan and CAMC Hualing saw large increase of 60.6 and 53.6 percent to 21,700 and 19,600 units from January to October. Due to internal adjustment and destocking, Beiben only sold 15,900 units in the first 10 months, down 24.5 percent.
