Ricardo signs agreement with Sinotruk

JINAN, Shandong ¨C Ricardo, the leading independent technology provider and strategic consultant to the world¡¯s automotive industries, signed an agreement on July 11 with China National Heavy-Duty Truck Group Corp. (CNHTC), China¡¯s biggest heavy-duty truck manufacturer located in Jinan, east China¡¯s Shandong Province.

According to the agreement, Ricardo will provide engineering support in the development of new products for CNHTC, whose new engine re-engineered with Ricardo now meets the Euro III emissions standards required in China and has been up-rated by 11 percent to 400 hp. The signing ceremony took place coinciding with the celebration for CNHTC¡¯s successful completion of the HAEP WD615 engine program in collaboration with Ricardo.

“The completion of the WD615 engine program with Ricardo has resulted in a significant improvement in performance as well as a reduction in emissions,¡± said Ma Chunji, chairman of CNHTC. Dave Shemmans, CEO of Ricardo plc said that the success of the WD 615 engine project had shown the potential for what he believes will be a long and mutually beneficial relationship between Ricardo and CNHTC.

Founded in 1956, CNHTC is China¡¯s first and now largest heavy-duty truck manufacturer. Its core products include tractors, tippers, cargo trucks and other customized trucks such as concrete mixers, cranes and garbage trucks. In addition to vehicles, the company also manufactures many of its own components including diesel engines. The company markets its products in more than 50 countries and over the past five years has enjoyed annual sales growth of over 60 percent.
