SHANGHAI – Shanghai Automotive Industry (Group) Corp. (SAIC), China’s largest automaker by sales, reported sales of 327,924 units in August, up 14.4 percent compared with 286,502 units sold in August of last year, according to a company document release on September 6.
SAIC’s vehicle sales in the month grew 21.3 percent on a monthly basis, and sales increase in the first eight months was 11.3 percent on a yearly basis, said the company.
SAIC sold 2,005,000 vehicles in the first half of this year, up 12.9 percent year-on-year, far surpassing the industry average growth in China by 9.3 percentage points. The company’s market share in the country increased by 1.5 percentage points, compared with that it owned at the end of last year. A total of 4 million vehicles in sales are expected for this year, according to the company.
