SHANGHAI – SAIC-Volkswagen’s 15 millionth vehicle, a Phideon luxury car, rolled off the production line on August 31.
SAIC-Volkswagen thus becomes the first Chinese passenger vehicle manufacturer with output volume surpassing 15 million units.
It took the joint venture company 26 years for breaking the first 5 million output record and four years for the second 5 million, and for the third 5 million less than three years.
SAIC-Volkswagen has six production bases in Anting of Shanghai, Nanjing, Yizheng, Urumchi, Ningbo and Changsha with annual output capacity closing to 2 million vehicles.
The introduction of the Phideon has expanded SAIC-Volkswagen’s product line to C-level luxury car segment so as to satisfy customers’ diversified needs.
The Lavida and Rapid series models have all won recognition in the market. The newly-launched Lamando and the Cross Santana that will be launched soon will give customers more personalized driving experience.
