GENEVA – SAIC-Volkswagen will begin production of the Phideon in the third quarter of 2016, according to a company news release on March 1.
The C-segment model dedicated exclusively to the Chinese market made its global debut at the Volkswagen Group Night on February 29 prior to the start of the Geneva International Motor Show. It is developed based on the Audi A6 platform and is over five meters in length with a wheelbase of over 3 meters. It will also be SAIC-Volkswage’s first C-segment model and the only premium C-segment model under the Volkswagen brand, putting it in competition with models such as the Chang’an-Ford Taurus.
The model will make its debut in China at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show in April.
