GUANGZHOU – The SEAT brand, a member of the Volkswagen Group, brought its sports sedan LEON Cupra and LEON FR to the Guangzhou Auto Show for the first time. The company also announced its brand management mode which is designed exclusively for Chinese consumers.
The LEON FR and LEON Cupra will be launched to the Chinese market in 2012, said the company. The LEON FR is equipped with 1.8TSI engine which can generate 160 hp at the largest. The LEON Cupra is powered with 2.0TSI engine which can produce a maximum of 211 hp. The car can speed up from 0-100 kilometers per hour in 6.9 seconds.
SEAT will have its independent sales network in China and the first batch of dealers will be selected from Volkswagen import vehicle dealers. As planned, SEAT will first establish dealerships in 15 cities including Xi’an, Xianmen and Changsha in 2012.
Other cars displayed at the show included an A0-class IBIZA, which is equipped with 1.4TSI engine and DSG transmission, and a 7-seat ALHAMBRA MPV, which can speed up to 100 km/h at 8.3 seconds with 2.0TSI engine and DSG transmission.
Three concept cars, which represent the future of SEAT B-class, A0/A-class and entry level SUVs, the SEAT IBL, IBE and IBX, also made their debut at the show.
