PARIS – Sabine Scheunert was appointed director of the Citroën brand in China and vice managing director of the Dongfeng-Citroën division at Dongfeng-Peugeot-Citroën Automobile Co., Ltd. with effect from May 1, Citroën said in a statement on April 30.
Scheunert replaces Lahouari Bennaoum and has become the first female director of a European vehicle manufacturer in China.
Scheunert joined PSA in 2010 as director of strategy and CRM. In 2013, she received the “Manager of the Year” prize in Germany from Generation CEO, a network promoting female representation in business.
She began her career in 1998 with BMW Germany, where she held a number of positions in the marketing and product departments before joining BMW France in 2004 as director of product strategy and planning. In 2006, she became marketing director of BMW Eastern Europe.
Scheunert is a graduate of Germany’s FDHW business school.
